Project Progress: 4,878-piece Girder Erection of Menghua Railway Jingzhou River South Section Completed

On November 8, after more than two years of construction, the China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Menghua Railway Project Department completed the task of 59 kilometers and 4784-piece girder erection within Jingzhou. 

At the site ofthe Guanzhong Canal Super Bridge girder erection project, with the operation ofthe staff, the bridge erecting machine slowly lowered a 32-meter-long 146-tonT-beam. After more than two years of construction, the railway workers of the China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Menghua Railway Project Department completed the task of 59 kilometers and 4784-piece girder erection of Jingzhou section.

The Menghua Railway is the first south-north heavy-duty railway in China. The construction of the Jingzhou section of the railway is divided by the river into the north section and south section. The main line of river north section extends 37kilometers, and the main line of river south section is 57 kilometers long. China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Menghua Railway Project Department isresponsible for the girder erection task of the Jingzhou river south section. Since the construction in October 2016, the construction side has overcome difficulties such as pressing deadline, heavy workload and long transportation distance.

The railway coal transportation project from Mengxi to Central China is known as China's new strategic transportation channel for “Northern Coal Southward Transportation” and the largest coal transportation line in China. There are 85 stations on the whole line of 1,837 kilometers. The planned transportation capacity is more than 200 million tons per year, and the construction period is five years. Its construction has important strategic significance foroptimizing the national energy strategy, developing coal resources in the Inner Mongolia-Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia region, and ensuring energy supply in central China area, including provinces such as Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi.
